Program Notes (by Alexandra Harrison)

The author the day before (or, I am getting ready)
Today we determined the beginning of the work it was difficult but it really comes down to time and it has already been scheduled. So administration has taken care of that then.
I am thinking a great deal about tomorrow but not about what I have to do. Instead, I am thinking about what the work will do and my un-reliability.
Today there arrived Simple Questions for the Independent Artist - A Handbook
It is substantial but not heavy, therefore it is still not a heavy thing that I am lifting and I am faithful to my initial claim. In this respect I am reliable.
It was very distracting when A Handbook arrived. There is a repetition on page 7 and 8. There will be more about repetition and the independent artist in
the second edition. There will be a second edition.

The author today (or, nothing is dependable)
Things have changed. I didn’t make you t-shirts - they were too expensive. Something else to consider may be that the kingdom of knowing is different from the land of discovery.
Today there is a handbook and that is no small thing. Aporetic comes from aporia defined as
1. A figure of speech in which the speaker expresses or purports to be in doubt about a question.
2. An insoluble contradiction or paradox in a text's meanings.
Etymological origins are found in the Greek aporos meaning impassable.
Etymological origins are no small thing either.

The author’s claim (or, scripted martyrdom)
This is my work. It’s called Having Fun By Yourself. This work might seem violent and aggressive but it is actually trying to be nice, and polite. It is a dialogue and it is a transformation. This choreography is magic. It is a magical act. As a statement of intention I have made you some t-shirts. Having Fun By Yourself is an independent piece. It is a fully-federated dance work. It doesn’t need me. I will do no heavy lifting in the work nor will I see the work, but I will be responsibly nearby. I made this work with other people but they are independent of me also and they could make the work without me. I am like chocolate (as my partner’s fifteen year old son told me last week), not entirely necessary but good to have around. You don’t have to depend on me either, you will be just fine on your own. And have fun - this baby’s a needy monster.

The author’s disclaimer (or, preemptive nostalgia)
Today is Wednesday and things will change.
